Well, at least Chris Duffy got called up.
When does hockey season start?

If I were president of the United States, whenever violence erupted in the world I would send my Secretary of State to the region to remind everyone that Freddie Mercury wanted us all to live together in peace.

I'm I the only one who's disappointed that Oliver Stone made a movie about 9/11 starring Nicolas Cage where Nicolas Cage isn't playing Osama Bin Laden?

I had to drive my mother to the airport at 4:30 this morning. It was funny, on the way out I didn't feel tired but I could tell that my reaction time maybe wasn't quite what it should be. The hour finally caught up with me on the way back and I couldn't stop yawning but I was in complete control of the car. It was a weird morning. Then I got home and slept for a long time.

This afternoon I wrote another song. I wrote a song yesterday. I wrote a song the day before that. I've never written a song before this week. I'm like Prince now -- a song a day. I think I reached some kind of critical mass between the bands at AIR on Saturday, Wreckless Eric on Sunday, and more bands again at AIR on Monday. It was like, okay, I should try this.

My verdict on the songs is that they are awful but much better than they have any right to be.

And, the one I wrote yesterday is about Baroness from G.I. Joe.

Don't let the dumbshits win.

Jack Warden is no longer still alive.
That means Jack Klugman is the last of the 12 Angry Men.

Great show last night at the Brillo Box. Teen Riot was great. Really fun, smile inducing music from Sean Lally and his band. I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting from Wreckless Eric but what we got was damn entertaining. He told us about his scary granny, he swore at the people in the back who wouldn't shut up, he read from his book, he rocked out with Amy Rigby, he rocked out with Amy Rigby and her daughter (and Sean Lally on the drums), he rocked out with Teen Riot (Sean Lally on the guitar), he played Whole Wide World, and then he rocked out some more. The place was really jumping. The Brillo Box is on the second floor and at one point I was contemplating my chances of surviving the floor collapsing (alive but mutilated, I think). Also, fun was had at Jon Bon Jovi's expense. After the show, when we were hanging around trying to figure out our next move, they had Clash of the Titans playing on a tv by the bar and I got to see them release the Kraken. All in all a great night.

Anyway, thanks to Kelly and Sarah for coming out even though they probably had no idea what they were getting into.

Yesterday was okay. There wasn't any spin the bottle and the bubble machine was never set up but people seemed to be having a good time. I had a Twinkie. I also got attacked by a little boy because it was a fake tattoo and didn't hurt at all! No, you're just tough! IT DIDN'T BREAK THE SKIN! I thinks that's when he shoved me. Anyway, random pictures start here and move away from the watermelon. Not that there wasn't watermelon yesterday and not that it wasn't delicious.

Saturday night is going to be so rad.
Does that say bubble machines?
Bubble machines.
Wow.

Wreckless Eric and Sean Lally's band, Teen Riot, are playing the Brillo Box on Sunday night. I might have to get me to that one. Also, Sean Lally cut his hair? We live in amazing times.

Flickr is having a little unannounced down time right now. While they are, they're having a little contest where you print out these two circles, color them in, take a picture of them, and upload them.
The winner gets a free pro account for a year.
I bet more than half the entries are boobies.

I whole-heartedly agree with the ninja.

So, I had my list of three free, summer concerts I was looking forward to and I didn't end up going to any of them. The reasons being that I didn't have anyone to go with me, it was rained out, and there was a going away party for my cousin on Friday. But, hey, it was a fun party except for the fact that although the DJs were playing good music they weren't always playing good dance music. I only ended up dancing for maybe three or four songs with a bunch of my young cousins. My brother and I had a nice moment together over a couple plastic cups of beer. It was the first time we'd ever drank together. I don't drink often but you should have a beer with your brothers every now and again.

Saturday was insane. Same side of the family, there was a first birthday party for my cousin's daughter at South Park that featured an all-out, hardcore, tackle football game between me, my brother Luke, and my cousins Jared, Seth, Max, Dylan, Kane, Zeke, Stevens, and Eliazar. We somehow went from casually catching the football to talking about maybe playing a game with someone being permanent quarterback so they wouldn't have to run around to TACKLE FOOTBALL. It was so hot, I felt like I was going to die and I almost threw up. It was pretty awesome. It's so rare that we have a grass field to play on. We're usually two-hand touching it in the middle of 13th street on the South Side. It's probably for the best that we never have grass to play on. It was also fun because it was basically big kids versus little kids. Well, really it was big and little kids versus medium kids.

And, today? Today was just too freaking hot.

She took my hand and bent her head to my ear.
“There’s nothing left to decide.” She whispered.
I felt my feet begin to slowly rise off the ground.
“This could be one of those moments.” I thought, our hands slipping apart. “This could be one of those moments you never forget.”

Strange 4th of July this year. Mt. Lebanon's fireworks got rained out and no one in the family had a cookout so I ended up eating egg drop soup and cold chicken lo mein for dinner, hardly a classic July 4th meal. I also played nine holes of golf with my dad.

Tonight my mother and I trekked up to the high school for the rescheduled fireworks. They didn't start out very impressively (part of this might have been due to the fact that my view was partially obscured by a tree), but then there was a faux grand finale that was pretty cool, and then the actual grand finale was incredible. We ended up in the same place we watched them from last year, between the tennis courts and the swimming pool, which is really close to were they launch them, so the red, white, and blue fireworks of the finale seemed to fill the whole sky, and they kept sending up wave after wave. And it was really loud since the fireworks echo off the high school.
Really, really loud.

July 22 is the second AIR10 birthday party at the Artists Image Resource. The theme of the first party was a good, wholesome kid's birthday party but the second one is being billed as "an angst ridden teenage rock n' roll party". It should be off the fucking charts.
Oh, yeah.
