From last night's dream:

Explode the Muse.

I have a ton of really cool cousins that I don't hang out with enough.

I spent over an hour this evening standing outside Mellon Arena in the freezing cold to get a student rush ticket for the hockey game. It was a good thing it was such a good game because it was SRO before I got to Gate Eight. But, hey, I used to stand the whole time at Pitt football games in the student section at Heinz Field.

I believe there's one perfect person for each of us and that fate will cause your paths to cross. When that happens, it's up to the two of you to realize that you are meant to be together and make the necessary arrangements.

I remember the night I first saw her. I was in the backseat of our old station wagon. My mother was behind the wheel. A mini-van pulled up beside us. I looked and saw the most beautiful, perfect girl sitting there. Our eyes met. Time stopped. Night became day. My mother hit the gas and we pulled away. I kept hoping the mini-van would catch up with us but it never did.

Images from last night's dreams:

The $1.50 beer caused a riot and a shoot-out at the old west saloon.

Stickball in the side yard.

Lots of Star Trek the Next Generation.

Jonathan Frakes has never been better.

Yes, I dream of Jonathan Frakes.

Shut up.

I get to be a pallbearer tomorrow.

Good thing I've been working on my upper body strength.

One wedding and a funeral.

Yesterday was my dad's cousin's daughter Kate's wedding.

I think the high point of the night was when they played Kate by the Ben Folds Five. I can't imagine that many of the people at the reception knew the song so it pretty much cleared the dance floor except for me, my brother, my cousin Amy, and a few stragglers. My brother and I exchanged puzzled yet amused glances. The Ben Folds Five? But then the chorus rolled around and I'd like to believe that I was the first person to put my hands in the air and yell Kate! By the second chorus a bunch of the bridesmaids joined the floor in shouting Kate, and what had started as a "wait, is this Ben Folds? WTF?" sort of thing had turned into a pretty cool moment. You know you're at a cool wedding when they play the Ben Folds Five.

Today and tomorrow is funeral stuff for my great aunt. That won't be nearly as much fun. Though I'm sure you could find appropriate Ben Folds songs to play.

Who says there's nothing good on teevee on Friday night?

I really need to get elected to congress.

Once upon a time I went to school with Nathan Mazur.

Now, the internet allows me to see what he's up to without the pain and humiliation of human interaction.

Sometimes when I sleep higher powers place profound truths in my head. When I wake up it's like I'm living in a whole new world. I ask myself if I should share what I have been told. Are the people ready to listen? Deep down I know that it's not my decision to make. I am only the messenger. Last night's message was this, make of it what you will:

It isn't easy to take underwater photographs of ghosts.
If that isn't the truth I don't know what is.

I never did post anything about working the election last week. It was a long day. I was the Majority Inspector of the 4th ward, 2nd district in Mt. Lebanon. We got 179 voters. I got to check voter's signatures versus their signatures in the book. I was totally the main defense against voter fraud. I would definitely do it again.

My iTunes library currently breaks down as follows:
Five star songs = 14%
Four star songs = 45%
Three star songs = 37%
Two star songs = 3%
One star songs = less than 1%
Unrated songs = trace

I was in bed last night listening to the rain on the skylight and thinking about how much fun it was going to be to get to rake wet leaves in the morning. It took me almost three hours to get all the leaves to the curb. I don't think it would actually have been possible to rake all the leaves to the curb. I think the rake would've snapped. I raked and kicked them into a big pile and loaded them into a garbage can and dumped them in the street. I moved a lot of leaves. Also a lot of worms, spiders, ants, slugs, and grubs. It was a good thing I had my one tiny Martha Stewart gardening glove and one even smaller child's work glove.

Ah, the joys of home ownership.

I passed on the opportunity to see Good Night, and Good Luck on Friday night. I was too tired and didn't feel like driving to either of the theaters were it was playing. My inherent laziness won again.

But I really need to see that movie. The New York Times told me to see it now. I fear I've missed my chance. Anyway, the point is that I want to see it because it looks very good but I also want to be able to write a blog post, after I've seen it and been struck by the power and relevance of the move, that says, and I quote "I have never been more proud to have a George Clooney magnet on my refrigerator".

"You participated in a phallus naming?"

Took advantage of the Penguins' student rush program tonight with my sister and her friend Jenny. We had to stand in an enormous line, in the cold, for about an hour but it was worth it. A hell of a game. The only down side was that we were at the wrong end of the ice and didn't get to see any of the Penguin goals, but we did get a great view of T-bo's big saves in the shootout.

It was bad to blow the lead but what an ending. T-bo stuffs Montreal's third shooter and does a little hop. The crowd goes wild. Crosby. Man. Even from the far end of the rink. Even without being able to see the area in front of the net because of the distortion through the glass. You could tell that that was something special.

The truck just drove past that sucks up the leaves. It had to back up three times to get all the leaves I raked out there.

It still didn't manage to get them all.

And that was only the leaves from the side and front yards.

That series on Sunday where the Ravens put Kordell Stewart in at QB was the most exciting, smile inducing football I've seen in along time. They're crazy not to be starting him.

One of my favorite lyrics:

When I was a young boy
My mama said to me
There's only one girl in the world for you
And she probably lives in Tahiti

I'd go the whole wide world
I'd go the whole wide world
Just to find her

Or maybe she's in the Bahamas
Where the Carribean sea is blue
Weeping in a tropical moonlit night
Because nobody's told her 'bout you
Whole Wide World by Wreckless Eric.

Freaky moment of the morning: I was listening to my iPod through the radio this morning as I washed the dishes. I was playing my dish washin' mix that consists of the roughly half-hour of songs I'm currently really into. There weren't many dishes so I'm moving at a fast clip. While washing the silverware, Good by Better Than Ezra comes on. Unfortunately, about half way through the song the iPod's battery runs out and the radio starts making a most unappealing noise. I finish rinsing off the silverware and go to change the channel. My iPod is set to broadcast on channel 101.1 FM. The closest station that I listen to is 100.7 FM. I press the button and move down the dial. I get to 100.7 FM just in time to hear the end of Good by Better Than Ezra.

Yeah, that's right.

Since my mother has been kidnapped and is being held hostage I will be working the election in her place.

Lets get you up to speed:

  • My sister and I sat outside on the porch in our Incredibles masks and gave out candy last night. We only got about 13 kids. Most of them were the kids from the street. We have an unhealthy amount of candy left. We did get a couple incredibly cute little kids. We didn't get any highschool kids. We usually get a group of older kids later in the night but not this year. Nobody came between 7:30 and 8:00. We were pretty close to grabbing a couple pillow cases and going out ourselves. Halloween is wasted on the young.

  • I'm glad we won.

  • I think I'm doing this. I guess I should officially sign-up.

  • I've got a ticket to the Pitt vs. Connecticut game.

It's the first anniversary of this comment on Kelly's blog.
Happy birthday, little comment.
