I think even Miracle Max would agree that this is a noble cause.
Help out if you can.

The Will Always Negates Defeat.
The new Flaming Lips album is fantastic.

I'm only going to say this once: the reason there are more votes for American Idol than for president is that you can vote as many times as you want for American Idol.

Yesterday was the 10 year anniversary of what I consider to be the first real concert I ever went to. My brothers and I saw 3 lb. Thrill and Semisonic open for the Verve Pipe at Graffiti.

Oh, you lucky, lucky, lucky people.
Rhett Miller is coming back to town next month.
And it's free.
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Happy birthday, Luke.

So, was Sofia Coppola born on the 12th or the 14th?

You haven't seen that Wes Anderson American Express card commercial until you've seen it on the big screen.
Hell, it's pretty awesome crappy quality and tiny, too.

I was looking through the prints from the etching class print exchange from when I was at Pitt, and, at the very bottom of the pile, and I don't know how I forgot it was there, was an Edward Powell etching.
How the hell did I forget that I own an Edward Powell?
I've got to get that baby framed.

How uncool is it to have an eight letter last name and not have that name tattooed across your knuckles?

File under uncool: all the boys on one bus and all the girls on the other.

Ready to be caught up? Okay, hold on!

Thursday: Went to the open figure session at the Watercolors Gallery downtown for the first time. It was a nice, laid back environment. There were only three other people drawing. It's good to find a pay as you go figure drawing session. I really need to get down there a couple times a month. On a related note: figure drawing is frustrating.

Friday: AIR. I've made prints the last three weeks and I was looking forward to making another one but I didn't have enough time because I ended up "working" the AIR table at the Youth Invasion at the Warhol. I don't know that I can really appreciate the Youth Invasion since I'm so old but it seemed like people were having a good time. I watched Smells Like Gina perform and had a tasty root-beer float. When that was over, I lost a couple hours to Max's Allegheny Tavern.

Today: Free Comic Book Day!

I like this unverified factoid from the Wikipedia about Cinco de Mayo:

The real source of this celebration in the United States and Canada was from a marketing campaign by the combined forces of Corona and El Torito in the late 1970's.

A question posed by last night's dream: if it turned out that you had dreamed the last ten movies you remember seeing, if they only exist in your head in whatever fragments you remember them, what would you do with that information? How much can you actually remember? Are they worth trying to recreate in the real world? Would you count them among your better ideas?

In my dream it turned out that every movie I remembered seeing in the last ten years had only existed in my head but I could only remember seeing Terminator 2 and The Strange Case of Clarence Clemens, a movie about a camera that imbued its film with demonic powers.

I think David Bowie starred.

I got this email three times. It must be important.

Yeah, we know we're milking this, but Friday night at Moondogs, The Breakup Society is squeezing in one final set before Ed leaves for Arizona. Norman Nardini is hosting a going-away bash with a bunch of special guests, including the Hi-Frequencies, Torn & Frayed, Michael Kastelic, Ameoba Knievel and members of Black Tie Revue. There's also a Frampton reunion on tap with actual members of the band, no ringers, making this the first official Frampton Brothers set since July of 2002. It almost makes me wish we'd had a chance to practice... Oh well, maybe next time. The rocking commences at 10 p.m. And best of all, it’s free.
Sounds like a hell of a show.

What kind of crackpots write letters to the newspaper?
My brother.

Don't forget that it's Free Comic Book Day on Saturday.
Free Scott Pilgrim!

Do you ever have the dream where she's heartbreakingly beautiful and you come in through the air vent to find her soaking in the tub and you try to act all cool and smooth but you're wearing her pink underwear (and nothing else) and they're very small and very tight?

I'm not sure how big an accomplishment this really is but I've gone a whole year without getting a haircut.

Ted Striker: Mayday! Mayday!
Steve McCroskey: What the heck is that?
Johnny: Why, that's the Russian New Year!
