Hello, internet friends! This may turn into a production blog for a bit. Multiple projects in an overall plan are afoot and I'd like to keep track of the progress. What's the plan? Glad you asked. Imagine a series of prints along with a related animation. Yeah, I've got the animation bug again. The animation is feeding the prints and vise versa. It's a vicious cycle of creativity! The prints are rolling along nicely, but I'm basically starting from square one with the animation. I'm learning a new program (Blender) and creating a whole new vocabulary (well, I'm using my print vocabulary but I'm translating it...). I've got two themes in production right now. I guess I actually have two completed prison prints, one in production, and I'm working on a prison themed animation. Yesterday, I started on not one but two prints of an idea that's been floating around in my head for years. I've thumbnailed and done layouts of it before but yesterday I jumped into Illustrator and made the hard compositional decisions. Now it's "just" a matter of drawing it, redrawing it, and redrawing it some more. And formatting decisions. Formatting decisions kill me. Do I draw it smaller or print it on a bigger piece of paper? Should I do it as a mini-comic or do it full size? Vanilla or strawberry? You get the idea.
