I hope David Fincher ends up making some videos for this.

A helicopter has been hovering over towards the Mt. Lebanon/Dormont border for the last ten minutes. It's making me uncomfortable.
What have you done now, Dormont!

edit: it was out there for about a half hour!

It's not that I enjoy being filled with hate,
it's just that there are so many thing that deserve my scorn.

I got something in the mail today from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh that says I owe them $1.00. I'm confused. It's been, what, nine years since I graduated from there? Also, the postage on the thing is thirty cents. It just doesn't seem worth it.

It was amazing, this mystic business. You tell them a lie, and then when you don't need it anymore you tell them another lie and tell them they're progressing along the road to wisdom. Then instead of laughing they follow you even more, hoping that at the heart of all the lies they'll find the truth. And bit by bit they accept the unacceptable.
Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett.

I hadn't listened to any music on my computer since 12:50 pm on the 15th (Ella Fitzgerald doing Begin the Beguine). That's almost exactly five days. That's was two days of headache, two days of coughing and mucus, and one day of general malaise. My nose will probably be running for another week and the cough will probably stick around for another month, but I feel much better.

Lets see if I can give a taste of what I was going through last night. The headache was finally gone, but the coughing and the mucus were in ascension. Maybe slept for an hour between 2:00-3:00 am. Maybe slept for another hour. Maybe not. Had a dream where we were back driving through the mountains in Arizona. We were lost. I had the brilliant idea to turn the clock in the car back an hour so no one would know how lost we were. It makes sense when you're delirious. After more coughing and mucus creation, I dragged myself out of bed because I had to pee. While I was in the bathroom I decided I'd had enough, so I took some cold medicine. I've been raised to not use over the counter medication. I really need to break that hang-up. When I got back into bed the clock read 4:49, and I had an epiphany that it said "chang". I knew that my life's work would be spreading this message through the world. At this point I also composed a much better and more concise version of this post in my head. The cold medicine did reduce the frequency of my coughing fits and the amount of mucus, but it also made my head feel kinda funny. I think I managed to fall asleep around 8:00 am. I am greatly looking forward to no longer being sick.

Arizona pictures are up.
Debilitating headache only lasted for two days.
I woke up every couple hours last night thinking I was a hockey team.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Also, I want to party with you, cowgirl.

It's good to be back in Eastern Standard Time. I have the pictures and I have the stories but I also have the headache and the coughing sickness, so give me a minute.

I'm in a hotel in Arizona watching MTV2.

A martini. Shaken, not stirred.
So, yeah, I've had this Wacom tablet for awhile now, a 12 x 12 Intuos. I think I got it right before we got our first Mac, the old Power Mac G4. That was a sweet machine when we first got it. I got the tablet back when we were still using PCs, so it has a serial connection. Wacom didn't bother making an OS X driver for the Intuos.
what are you trying to say?
I could still use it in OS 9 or hook it up to one of the old PCs if I resurrected it from its attic graveyard, but that isn't the same as having it hooked up to your regular computer with your regular operating system. Even that small of a hindrance tends to derail me.
poor trait
Happily for me, the TabletMagic project came along and made a driver, and now I can draw on the computer to my wrist destroying content.

I read on their blog that they were throwing a party so I decided to drop by. I thought it was a child's birthday party but it turned out to be a Chanukah party. I was severely under dressed in my Batman and Robin t-shirt. Pirogies were served.

I was watching the version of Apocalypse Now that has John Lennon as Capt. Willard.

And then he spent the afternoon reading Michelle Wright's blog.

Happy belated, What I did On The Weekend post. On Friday I went to AIR and had plans to meet Sarah at the Warhol at 7:00. While at AIR I chatted with Sarah and we pushed our meeting back until 7:30, so I could go to the opening at the Center For The Arts at 5:30. Rode over there with Bill. It was a decent show. There was really good food. It was a star studded affair. I talked to Nathan Mazur, who I went to AIP with and hadn't seen in probably eight years (and totally didn't recognize). I also saw Sally Wiggin, and Michelle Wright. They were there because one of the artists in the show works at WTAE. The oddest point of the night was when I was standing in front of one of the guy's quilts and the artist was standing to my right talking about the piece with Sally Wiggin. Weird.

Anyway, by the time we got back to the North Side and I drove over to the Warhol and found a parking space (u-turn, ho!) it was 8:00. Luckily, I was rocking the membership card and didn't have to debate blowing admission to find out that Sarah hadn't stuck around. It turns out that although neither of us thought the other one was there we ended up bumping into each other in the eugenics exhibit. The eugenics exhibit is so soul crushingly depressing. I made it about half way through before I just had to get out. Luckily, the Warhol museum has florescent cows to help cheer you up and strange covered pieces of foam to relax on.

The rest of the weekend was spent watching tv. Saturday was hockey and the King Kong remake (so, so bad. I think Peter Jackson is going to find himself on the people who shouldn't be allowed to make movies list). Sunday was more hockey and the Super Bowl.

That was my weekend.

And while I'm at it, Monday was drawing, drawing, drawing.

I should probably try and make this a weekly feature but for now it's going to be monthly. This year I'm going to do one thing a month that I've never done before. Some of them will probably be very lame. January's entry is seeing a sporting event at the Petersen Events Center. A feat I ended up achieving three times before the month was over.
